Following the example of Count Sheremetev, Fyodor Fyodorovich Urasov opens a fortress theater in Pukhov, wishing to stage operas and ballets on the stage.  On the way to the village, the master notes in a round dance the young Dunya Chekunova with a high, strong voice and takes him to his estate.

 

The grumpy overseer Matryona Sidorovna, the talented Italian violinist Anton Tarasovich, dear to Petrush’s heart, whoever the difficult life in Pukhov will bring to Dunya.
